One of the most common questions I hear lately is:

“Is SEO dead because of AI?”

I don’t think we’re asking the right question.

The real question is:

What happens when every SEO suddenly has access to exponentially more leverage?

A few years ago, building a website meant weeks of planning, writing, development, QA, and endless repetitive work.

Today, much of that execution can be accelerated.

Content briefs.

Schema generation.

Code snippets.

Regex.

Python scripts.

Internal linking.

Data analysis.

Documentation.

Even building small internal tools.

None of these tasks disappeared.

They’re simply faster.

The bottleneck has changed

SEO has never been about typing the fastest.

It’s about making the right decisions.

AI can generate code.

It can write content.

It can summarize documentation.

But it still doesn’t know:

  • Which pages deserve to exist.
  • What users are actually trying to accomplish.
  • Where the technical bottlenecks are.
  • Why Google isn’t indexing a section of a website.
  • Which experiment is worth running next.

Those decisions still require experience.

AI amplifies good SEOs

The biggest change I’ve noticed isn’t that AI replaces SEO work.

It’s that it amplifies people who already understand the fundamentals.

A technical SEO can now automate repetitive audits.

A content strategist can validate ideas much faster.

A developer can build internal tools in hours instead of weeks.

The knowledge didn’t become less valuable.

It became more scalable.

SEO is entering a new phase

For years, success often came from producing more content.

Now everyone can produce more content.

The advantage shifts back to execution.

Technical understanding.

Automation.

Experimentation.

Building systems instead of repeating tasks manually.

My takeaway

I don’t believe SEO is dying.

I think we’re entering one of the most exciting periods the industry has seen.

The people who continue learning, building, and adapting won’t do the same amount of work with AI.

They’ll achieve exponentially more with the same amount of effort.

That’s not the end of SEO.

It’s the beginning of a very different one.
